Greetings dear friends:
Today I am conveying a message of:
“The Importance of Feeling Safety”
After a challenging week with clients suffering from depression, grief, abuse and trauma I felt strongly guided to dive deeper on this topic. I did some psychological research on this topic. This only reinforced what I feel in my own life and what I witness in my work with Therapy for the Soul sessions. As a healing therapist I utilize Reiki and ThetaHealing healing to create a “safe container” to allow my clients to be able to put down the guards of protection and go deeper to the liberation from fears, trauma and harm. Without the feeling of safety it is impossible to truly heal.
Feeling safe is a fundamental human need that plays a crucial role in various aspects of each person’s daily life and well-being. Feeling safe is important to everyone and includes physical, emotional, social, and psychological aspects. Feeling safe is vital:
Physical Well-being:
Feeling safe is directly linked to physical safety. When individuals feel secure in their environment, they are less likely to experience stress, anxiety, or fear associated with potential threats to their physical well-being.
Safety is a basic prerequisite for engaging in daily activities without the constant fear of harm, which allows individuals to focus on personal growth, work, and other aspects of life.
Emotional Well-being:
Emotional safety is crucial for mental health. When people feel emotionally secure, they are more likely to express themselves authentically, share their thoughts and feelings, and build meaningful connections with others.
A lack of emotional safety can lead to heightened stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues. Feeling safe emotionally contributes to a positive self-image and overall emotional resilience.
Social Well-being:
Feeling safe in social settings is essential for healthy interpersonal relationships. Trust and a sense of security are the foundation of strong connections with friends, family, and community.
In an environment where individuals feel safe, they are more likely to collaborate, communicate openly, and engage in positive social interactions. This, in turn, fosters a sense of belonging and community.
Psychological Well-being:
Feeling safe is closely tied to psychological well-being. In an environment where individuals feel secure, they are more likely to explore new ideas, take risks, and pursue personal and professional growth.
A sense of safety provides a foundation for self-confidence and self-efficacy, allowing individuals to face challenges with resilience and a positive mindset.
Productivity and Creativity:
Feeling safe in the workplace or learning environment is crucial for productivity and creativity. When individuals are not preoccupied with concerns about their safety, they can focus their energy and attention on tasks, problem-solving, and innovation.
Quality of Life:
Feeling safe contributes significantly to an overall higher quality of life. Whether at home, in the community, or in broader societal contexts, a sense of safety enhances one's ability to enjoy life, pursue goals, and participate in various activities without constant worry.
As you see, feeling safe cannot be overstated. It is the foundation for physical and mental well-being, healthy relationships, personal development, and a fulfilling life. Creating environments that foster safety is essential for promoting the overall health and happiness of individuals and communities.
This is my aim when I am holding space and creating the “safe container” for your healing. What I would like to offer today is a place to start this process within yourself.
A great place to start is right inside of you, the space of the HEART. The heart chakra is the purest of vibrations for healing. The essence of this chakra is self-acceptance, unconditional love and the healing vibration of Compassion. Compassion being one of the primary ingredients to heal and release suffering and struggle. To heal through the Heart is to connect to the beautiful essence of you truly are. Before you can feel safe with anyone else it is UTMOST importance that you feel safe within your own HEART.
I am sharing with you today one of my Mindfulness based meditations. The technique of R.A.I.N. Just click the link and you will find on the homepage of Therapy for the Soul.
R.A.I.N. is an acronym that stands for
Recognize
Allow
Investigate
Neutralize
This technique is used as a tool for dealing with difficult emotions and thoughts or situations. It is a way to safely connect with how you are truly feeling without judgment and attachment to it.
The R.A.I.N. technique cultivates mindfulness and compassion to help you to develop a healthier relationship with your thoughts and emotions. It is greatly beneficial in dealing with challenging and distressing situations by providing a “safe container” to face and work through difficulties with awareness and TRUE compassion.
May you be happy.
May you be healthy.
May you live with ease in your heart.
